1986 New York Giants Championship Ring

Giants 1986 Championship Ring (NFL)

Super Bowl XXI Logo

The Giants had to wait until May for the final spoils of their Super Bowl XXI victory, but it was worth it. At a private ceremony at Giants Stadium following a minicamp, New York players and staff were presented with their Super Bowl rings.

The crown of the Giants' 10-karat gold ring includes 1.2 carats of diamonds. The design features a 10-karat white gold crest in the shape of the Vince Lombardi Trophy set on a barrel-shaped blue spinel. A 3/4-carat diamond forms the football in the trophy; nine additional diamonds are encrusted in the trophy's base. The year "1986" and the words "Giants--World Champions" surround the spinel base stone.

One side, or shank, of the ring is personalized with the player's name, and has a Giants helmet and the team's season record, 17-2. The other shank displays the final score of Super Bowl XXI, 39-20, and features miniature replicas of the Super Bowl XXI logo, the Lombardi Trophy, and the NFC championship trophy.

The ring weighs 30 pennyweight (a jeweler's measure), or about one-and-a-half ounces.
