King of the WWF
This title grew out of the 1986 King of the Ring Tournament (not to be confused with the King of the Ring PPV from 1993-2002), which took place on 14-Jul-1986 in Foxboro, MA. Harley Race defeated Pedro Morales in the finals, and on 05-Aug-1986 (Poughkeepsie, NY; aired 30-Aug-1986), as a promotional gimmick, he was crowned "King of the WWF" and actually defended the crown in matches. During a match with Hulk Hogan on 07-Mar-1988 in Nashville, TN, Race was seriously injured when he tried to headbutt Hogan through a table and Hogan moved out of the way. This match aired on 12-Mar-1988 on SNME. Haku was then crowned King of the WWF on 21-Jun-1988 in Glens Falls, NY (aired 09-Jul-1988). This coronation is on the "Best of the WWF Vol. 17" video. He lost the crown to "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan on 26-Apr-1989 in Omaha, NE. That Superstars of Wrestling episode aired 13-May-1989 and the cooronation aired 20-May-1989. Duggan lost the crown in turn to Randy Savage on 30-Aug-1989 in Portland, ME (match aired on 23-Sep-1989 on Superstars of Wrestling, coronation aired 30-Sep-1989 also on Superstars). Savage became became known as the "Macho King", and kept the "title" until WrestleMania VII. (Thanks to Alonzo Clayton)

WWF North American Heavyweight Championship
Ted Dibiase was billed as the first North American Champion upon his arrival to the federation in 1979. He lost the title on 19-Jun-1979 to Pat Patterson in Allentown, PA. Patterson vacated the title during September of 1979 after it was replaced with the WWF Intercontinental Title. In November of 1979 the title was revived in Japan, won by Seiji Sakaguchi on 08-Nov-1979 in Otaru, Japan and abandoned on 20-Mar-1981.

Kuwaiti Cup Tournament Championship
On two occasions the WWF held a tournament in conjunction with a tour of Kuwait. Ahmed Johnson defeated Hunter Hearst Helmsley in the finals on 12-May-1996. Tiger Ali Singh defeated Owen Hart in the finals on 13-Apr-1997.

NWA Titles
From 1971 to 1983 the WWWF/WWF was a member of the NWA and the NWA World Champion was recognized by the federation. The NWA Champion would occasionally make appearances in the WWF and defend the title. The two most notable of these title defenses were on 22-Sep-1980 in New York when Bob Backlund defeated Harley Race by DQ and on 04-Jul-1982 when Backlund and Ric Flair wrestled to a double countout in Atlanta, GA. In 1998, Jim Cornette brought NWA World Heavyweight Champion Dan Severn and NWA World Tag Team Champions The Rock & Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) into the WWF. Severn successfully defended the title occasionally during his stay in the WWF. The Tag Team Titles changed hands on two occasions: Morton & Gibson lost the titles to The Headbangers on 17-Feb-1998 in Waco, TX and Bob Holly & Bart Gunn (billed as the New Midnight Express) won the titles on 30-Mar-1998 in Albany, NY. Recognition of the NWA titles by the WWF was shortly concluded and Holly & Gunn lost the titles to The Border Patrol on 14-Aug-1998 at an NWA card in Greenville, NC.

USWA & Smoky Mountain Titles
The WWF had a strong working relationship with The United States Wrestling Association (USWA) between 1993 and 1997 and Smoky Mountain Wrestling (SMW) between 1993 and 1995. USWA & SMW titles were occasionally defended on WWF cards.

WWF Canadian Heavyweight Championship
Dino Bravo was the 5 time Canadian International Heavyweight Champion in the Grand Prix Wrestling promotion in Montreal. In August of 1985 the WWF took over the Montreal promotion and Bravo was billed as the WWF Canadian Champion in some Canadian cities. The title was abandoned in January of 1986.

WWF National Heavyweight Championship
The Spoiler was National Champion in Georgia when the WWF took over Georgia Championship Wrestling in July of 1984. He was billed as champion on some WWF shows before the title was forgotten and abandoned.
