Created in 1997 for whatever reason. It was absorbed into the Intercontinental Championship in a ladder match between then champion Jeff Hardy and the IC champion, Rob Van Dam.

3 Hunter Hearst Helmsley was to defend the Euro title on RIW. Instead, Goldust came out dressed like HHH and Luna Vachon was dressed as Chyna. Owen used the 'sharpshooter' to win the match. DX came on the TitanTron and made fun of Owen for being dumb. But WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter said Owen won not only the match but the European Championship as well. Match aired on 26-Jan-1998.

9 Jeff Jarrett won both the IC and Euro titles from D'Lo Brown in the same match at Summer Slam 1999.

20 On the 22-Jul-2002 episode of RAW, new general manager Eric Bischoff decided to have a ladder match to unify the Intercontinental and European Championships. Rob Van Dam, the IC champ at the time, defeated the European Champion, Jeff Hardy, in spectacular fashion, sending the European Championship into oblivion.
