Title pre-dates the WWF/E since it was owned by Fabulous Moolah. At one time recognized by the NWA as the Women's Champion, the WWF bought the rights to the title around 1983.

Notes

1 Moolah defeated Judy Grable in a tournament final. During this reign, Moolah changed her name from Slave Girl Moolah to the Fabulous Moolah. From the time Moolah won the title in 1956 until she sold it to the WWF in 1983, some title changes are believed to have taken place. These changes are not recognized by the WWF, but they are presented here for reference.
2 Moolah won the title as the masked Spider Lady, and removed the mask after the victory.
3 The World Women's title was retired in 1990.
4 Blayze defeated Heidi Lee Morgan in a tournament final to reactivate the Women's title.
5 Blayze was released by the WWF on 13-Dec-1995, in effect retiring the title.
6 Match aired 21-Sep-1998. Jacqueline defeated Sable to reinstate the title.
7 Nicole Bass was substituting for Sable and defeated Debra in an evening gown match. But WWF Commissioner Shawn Michaels reversed the decision saying that the woman who lost her clothes should be declared the winner and awarded the belt to Debra.
8 Match aired 14-Jun-1999.
9 Kat defeated Ivory, B.B., and Jacqueline in a four-corners evening gown match in a pool.
10 Harvey Whippleman came out dressed up like a woman, calling himself "Harvina."
11 Match aired 03-Feb-2000.
12 Match aired 30-Mar-2000.
13 Match aired 02-Nov-2000.
14 On Smackdown, William Regal announced that a new women's champion would be crowned at Survivor Series, ending Chyna's reign and vacating the title.
15 Trish Stratus defeated Ivory, Mighty Molly, Jazz, Lita, and Jacqueline for the title.
16 Victoria defeated Jazz, Molly Holly, and Lita in a Fatal Four-Way Elimination Match.
17 Trish pinned Lita in a Fatal Four-Way match also involving Victoria and Gail Kim.
18 The title was vacated the next day since Trish Stratus retired after her title victory.
19 Lita defeated Mickie James in a tournament final.
