| Match #1 - WWE World Tag Team Championship (RAW) | |||
| Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch Champions |
def. | "The Hardys" (Matt & Jeff Hardy) Challengers |
via Pinfall (8:53) |
| Notes: I suppose this match could technically be inter-promotional due to the fact that Matt is from SmackDown, but the title is on Raw. I digress. Crowd was hot for the Hardys, but it didn't do them any good. Cade and Murdoch work quite well as a team, and they won this one cleanly. Cade pinned Jeff after Murdoch pushed Jeff off the top rope. That's pretty clean in my book. Sound tag team strategy. Mike Rotundo and Barry Windham were announced to the crowd before the match. | |||
| Match #2 - WWE Cruiserweight Championship (SMDN) | |||
| Chavo Guerrero Champion |
def. | Jimmy Wang Yang Challenger |
via Pinfall (9:15) |
| Notes: JWY tried hard, but Chavo was just too much for him to overcome. Chavo won via pinfall after a Frog Splash. OK match, nothing truly spectacular. | |||
| Match #3 - ECW World Heavyweight Championship (ECW) | |||
| Johnny Nitro | def. | CM Punk | via Pinfall (8:02) |
| Notes: -TITLE CHANGE- Benoit was scrubbed from the match due to "personal reasons", and his replacement was Mr. Nitro. There were some "boring" chants during this match, but it wasn't all that bad. The young guys are still learning and it wasn't terrible. Nitro won with a swinging neckbreaker when Punk's feet were in the ropes. Early on the crowd chanted for Benoit, but well...as we know now, that wasn't going to happen. Nitro won the vacant ECW title. | |||
| Match #4 - WWE Intercontinental Championship (RAW) | |||
| Santino Marella Champion |
def. | Umaga Challenger |
via DQ (2:35) |
| Notes: Ricky Steamboat was introduced in the entryway, and he shook hands with Santino as Marella made his way to the ring. Umaga dominated the whole match, what little there was of it. Umaga was punching Marella in the corner, and didn't stop by the time the referee counted to five. He still laid the smack down Marella, much to the crowd's delight. He splashed him and delivered the Samoan Spike. The crowd chanted "one more time", but Umaga left as Maria came down to attend to Santino. | |||
| Match #5 - WWE United States Championship (SMDN) | |||
| Montel Vontavious Porter Champion |
def. | "Nature Boy" Ric Flair Challenger |
via Pinfall (8:41) |
| Notes: Magnum TA was at ringside for this bout, and MVP jawed at him before the match. There was no way Flair could hang with MVP. And what was even better was that MVP used a Flair tactic to secure the win. He stuck a thumb to Flair's eye, and laid Flair low with the Playmaker. | |||
| Match #6 - WWE Tag Team Championship (SMDN) | |||
| Deuce & Domino Champions w/Cherry |
def. | Sgt. Slaughter & "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka Challengers |
via Pinfall (6:30) |
| Notes: I was pumped to see Sarge back in action. Too bad he was paired with Snuka. I know why they put Snuka in there, but I was hoping that Sarge would team up with "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan one more time, and maybe win the gold they should have back in 1992. Now I know everyone's gonna tear this match apart, and I have to admit that this wasn't a very good match. But it wasn't all Slaughter's fault. Snuka was so slow and terrible, it was sad to watch. Deuce pinned Snuka after he rolled through Snuka's splash from the top rope. The two greasers started attacking the legends after the match, but Tony Garea and Rick Martel, who were the announced guests at ringside, came in and made the save. Ah, what I would have given to see the atomizer of "Arrogance" one more time. | |||
| Match #7 - World Heavyweight Championship (SMDN) | |||
| Edge Champion |
def. | Dave Batista Challenger |
via Countout (11:01) |
| Notes: Harley Race was announced before this match, and Dave acknowledged him while making his entrance. I thought this was the best match of the night. Both guys went back and forth, and it was fun to watch. The momentum didn't stay with one guy for very long. But Batista seemed to have Edge on the ropes when Edge delivered a low blow at 8:55 to cause a DQ. However, Smackdown GM Theodore Long came out, restarted the match, and said if Edge got DQed again, he would lose the title. The bell rang again, and Batista gained the upper hand after some early Edge offense. Edge was Batista-Bombed outside the ring, and Batista threw him back in. But Batista himself could not beat the count, and he lost via countout. The additional period went 2:06 and Batista lost his Last Chance Match. | |||
| Match #8 - WWE Women's Championship (RAW) | |||
| Candice Michelle Challenger |
def. | Melina Champion |
via Pinfall (4:21) |
| Notes: -TITLE CHANGE- Milwaukee's own Candice won the title with a spinning heel kick. She held up the title with tears in her eyes. She has worked really hard to improve, and I appreciate the effort. | |||
| IN RING: Justin Roberts recognized JBL, who stood up at the announce position and waved to the crowd. He then had the ring announcer read a prepared statement, which was quite amusing. It was a perhaps embellished bio on JBL, but nonetheless, JBL got some due. | |||
| Match #9 - WWE World Heavyweight Championship (RAW) | |||
| John Cena Champion |
def. | Mick Foley Randy Orton Bobby Lashley King Booker w/Queen Sharmell Challengers |
via Pinfall (10:08) |
| Notes: Cena and Lashley faced off early on, perhaps teasing a main event of the future? Lashley leapt over the top rope onto the four other men on the outside of the ring. Nice move. What was even better was when Cena FU'ed Lashley through the ECW announce table. Cena was about to deliver the 5-Knuckle Shuffle when Orton came out of nowhere and delivered an RKO. Lashley had just recovered and was getting back into the ring when Foley drilled him with a chair. When he recovered from that, Booker kicked him back out. Cena eventually pinned Foley after hitting him with an FU. OK match. Kind of short for a main event, but had some entertaining moments. | |||
