| Match #1 (SMDN) | |||
| Kane | def. | Finlay | via Pinfall (8:49) |
| Notes: I thought this an odd match to start things off with, but it was a really good match. Kane even punched Finlay off the top ropes to the arena floor. Finlay was crafty, though. He untied the turnbuckle to distract the ref. He then grabbed the shillelagh and was going to use it on Kane, but Kane stoppped him. The ref grabbed that shillelagh when Hornswoggle tossed Finlay a new one, which he was able to use. Kane was able to overcome that and his injured ribs. He pinned Finlay after the chokeslam. | |||
| Match #2 - WWE Intercontinental Championship - Triple Threat Match (RAW) | |||
| Umaga Champion |
def. | Ken Kennedy Carlito Challengers |
via Pinfall (7:22) |
| Notes: Umaga pinned Kennedy. OK match for the time they had. Kennedy and Carlito helped each other out a little bit. Kennedy pulled Carlito out of harm's way before Umaga's butt could hit him, and then nailed Umaga with a monitor. Kennedy finished off Carlito, but Umaga broke up the pin. He then used the Samoan Spike on Kennedy. | |||
| Match #3 (SMDN) | |||
| Rey Mysterio | def. | Chavo Guerrero | via Pinfall (12:06) |
| Notes: Rey Rey came out in a silver mask, silver pants, and had his torso covered in silver body paint, which wore off throughout the match. He looked like the Silver Surfer or something, and he's dressed as comic characters before. I've seen him look weirder, but you'd think someone would tell him he looked retarded. Kind of a meh match overall. Rey Rey's usual schtick. He did the 619 and a springboard off the top rope to get the pinfall victory. I didn't miss him at all. | |||
| Match #4 - Battle Royal (INTER) | |||
| Beth Phoenix | def. | Michelle McCool, Torrie Wilson, Melina, Mickie James, Jillian Hall, Kelly Kelly, Kristal Marshall, Victoria, Layla El, Brooke Adams |
(7:08) |
| Notes: Beth Phoenix finished off Michelle McCool to win the match. I don't know how I feel about this chick. I guess some new blood in the women's division is needed for sure. But Beth got to pose for about 20 seconds before MVP's music hit and he dismissed Beth and Candice, who watched the match from ringside. Which brings us to... | |||
| IN RING: I was disappointed that MVP didn't have a match tonight, but he came to the ring to take on Matt Hardy in a beer drinking contest. Matt Hardy came out and announced that he had brought a substitute to compete in his place, and it was none other than "Stone Col" Steve Austin. He faced MVP and before the contest even started, delivered a thunderous Stunner to MVP and then went on to do his thing to the delight of the fans. | |||
| Match #5 - ECW World Heavyweight Championship (ECW) | |||
| John Morrison Champion |
def. | CM Punk Challenger |
via Pinfall (7:09) |
| Notes: Morrison had a cook neckbreaker of sorts onto the ring apron. Punk started off strong, which is usually a bad sign. It was proved correct when Morrison blocked CM Punk's offense on the top rope and put his feet on the ropes to help secure the pinfall. Punk looked strong here, though. | |||
| Match #6 (RAW) | |||
| Triple H | def. | King Booker w/Queen Sharmell |
via Pinfall (7:57) |
| Notes: OK, Trips is back and all, but the whole "Six Million Dollar Man" themed stuff is so played. His entrance was nearing Undertaker proportions in terms of length, but the match finally started. Everyone was cheering for HHH, but they'll probably turn on him before year's end. Sign Guy was there with another lame effort claiming to be HHH's surgeon. He's a tard. Anyway, the outcome here was never really in doubt. At least they let Booker get out of the first Pedigree attempt. | |||
| Match #7 - World Heavyweight Championship (SMDN) | |||
| Dave Batista Challenger |
def. | The Great Khali Champion w/Ranjin Singh |
via DQ (6:55) |
| Notes: The real stinker of the night. Khali was dominant, but at the first signs of Batista showing some life, Singh threw in a chair and Khali used it. Terrible, terrible, terrible match. | |||
| Match #8 - WWE World Heavyweight Championship (RAW) | |||
| John Cena Champion |
def. | Randy Orton Challenger |
via Pinfall (21:19) |
| Notes: Man, I thought that this could be the time. The time that Cena finally would lose the damn belt. But it was not to be. Match was still the most exciting of the night, even with numerous rest holds. Crowd was hot, with the usual strong, anti-Cena contingent. Orton is so great in this "assassin-like" persona. Cena was able to kick out of a pinfall after an RKO, but Orton wasn't able to kick out of the FU. | |||
