| Match #1 - ECW World Heavyweight Championship (ECW) | |||
|---|---|---|---|
| Jack Swagger Champion |
def. | Matt Hardy Challenger |
via Pinfall (10:28) |
| Notes: I like Striker's commentary. He even busts out obscure stats like Matt Hardy trying to become the first Carolinian to win a title in Michigan since Ricky Steamboat winning the IC title in 1987 (WM3). I'm not sure about this Swagger guy. I think he has tremendous potential, but I think he would benefit from a manager. OK match. Hardy was posted, and then Swagger hit the gut-wrench powerbomb. After, Matt looked like he was going to cry. | |||
| Match #2 - WWE Women's Championship (RAW) | |||
| Melina Challenger |
def. | Beth Phoenix Champion w/Santino Marella |
via Pinfall (5:57) |
| Notes: -TITLE CHANGE- Melina should be a heel and nothing else. Big Santino chant at the outset. Average women's match. Best part was when Beth kicked Melina in the head with Melina's own foot. Never saw that before. Kind of a weird finish, but Melina came up with a lot of offense right at the end. | |||
| Match #3 - World Heavyweight Championship (RAW) | |||
| John Cena Champion |
def. | John "Bradshaw" Layfield Challenger w/Shawn Michaels |
via Pinfall (15:29) |
| Notes: No limo entrance tonight? I was really hoping that HBK would come through for JBL and take the title away from Cena. Another average match until JBL accidentally kicked the referee. After a double-clothesline, HBK entered the ring. He first superkicked JBL. Cena had a stupid smile on his face that was quickly wiped off by another superkick, this time to his own mush. HBK pulled JBL on top of Cena, and then left the ring to the back. He sent out another referee, but Cena kicked out. And of course, a few moments later this generation's Ultimate Warrior hit the move-formerly-known-as-the-FU for the win. Damn it. | |||
| Match #4 - WWE World Heavyweight Championship - No Disqualification Match (SMDN) | |||
| Edge Challenger w/Chavo Guerrero |
def. | Jeff Hardy Champion |
via Pinfall (19:23) |
| Notes: -TITLE CHANGE- After Jeff made his entrance, Vickie came out and announced that the match had been changed to a no-DQ match. She introduced Edge, who came out with Chavo. Couple of big spots here, like a Twist of Fate on the apron to the outside, and Jeff jumping off a ladder through Chavo and the announce table. Lots of near falls followed, with Vickie interrupting the ref's count at one point. This brought out Matt, who convinced Jeff to deliver a con-chair-to to Edge. Jeff was placing one chair under Edge's head when Matt whalloped Jeff with the chair instead. He just stared at Jeff with an emotionless expression on his face. A shocked Edge, not looking a gifthorse in the mouth, made the cover. And Edge has still not won a title cleanly. | |||
| Match #5 - Royal Rumble Match (INTER) | |||
| Randy Orton | def. | (See Below) | (58:35) |
| Notes: JR and King reunited to the Rumble commentary. Pretty good stuff. Better than average Rumble. JTG and Shad flipped a coin to see who would go into the Rumble. JTG won, but due to the fact he used a two-headed coin. Orton went nuts RKO'ing everyone until Triple H Pedigreed him. Trips also threw Morrison into Miz, eliminating both men. Right after, Rey used the two of them to get back into the ring. Since he stepped on them, he was not eliminated. When Finlay came out, Hornswoggle went right under the ring. Everyone paused when the Undertaker entered. Randy RKO'ed Goldust and then told Cody to dump him. Benjamin did a double-DDT of sorts on Punk and Jericho from the top rope. It was cool. Kane and Undertaker faced off for a few moments, but then started cleaning house on others. Dolph Ziggler backed into Kane, and put his hand out. Kane shook it, and used it to toss Ziggler to the delight of the crowd. Santino got into the ring and was clotheslined out in a second by Kane. A bunch of people in the first few rows had big signs that spelled out S-A-N-T-I-N-O and he was gone in the blink of an eye. Nice pop for Hacksaw as well. Hornswoggle entered the ring and tried to help Finlay, but Kane tossed him. Big Show eliminated Undertaker after he himself had already been eliminated by Orton. In the end, Triple H was able to toss two of the three Legacy members, but it was Orton's night. | |||
