| IN RING: An emotional Joey Styles was introduced to the crowd. He in turn introduced his broadcast partner for the evening, Mick Foley. | |||
| Match #1 | |||
|---|---|---|---|
| Lance Storm w/Dawn Marie |
def. | "Lionheart" Chris Jericho | via Pinfall (7:23) |
| Notes: Good to see Lance in action again. WWE totally underutilized him. Anyway, Jericho had him in the Walls of Jericho, so Dawn Marie got in the ref's face to distract him. At this time, Justin Credible and Jason Knight showed up. Jericho ended up with a kendo stick to the face, and Lance made the pin. | |||
| BACKSTAGE: "Pitbull" Gary Wolfe introduced a video package tribute to those ECW alumni that had died since it's demise: Terry Gordy, Rocco Rock, Mike Lockwood, Chris Candido, The Original Sheik, Mike Lozansky, "Pitbull" Anthony Durante, and Big Dick Dudley. | |||
| Match #2 - Three Way Dance | |||
| Super Crazy | def. | Tajiri w/Mikey Whipwreck, Sinister Minister Little Guido w/Big Guido, Tracy Smothers, J.T. Storm, Tony Mamaluke) |
via Pinfall (6:14) |
| Notes: Super Crazy did a moonsault off of the balcony onto the entire FBI. Insane. Little Guido was pinned at 4:09 by Tajiri. Super Crazy pinned Tajiri at 6:14. | |||
| Match #3 | |||
| Rey Mysterio, Jr. | def. | Psicosis | via Pinfall (6:23) |
| Notes: Psicosis took his mask off befor the match. This match had a few high spots, but at times it looked as if they were a tad slow and too careful. | |||
| IN ARENA: While Rey Rey was celebrating, the SmackDown! Superstars (Kurt Angle, JBL, the Bashams, Orlando Jordan, Carlito, Matt Morgan) made their entrance and walked to their seats in the balcony. They tried showing a Roadkill and Danny Doring promo, but it was cut off and the camera went back to the SmackDown guys. "The Quintisential Studmuffin" Joel Gertner showed up to try and interview them, but JBL pushed him down and then kicked him in the ass. That was funny. Kurt Angle and JBL each spoke on the mic and cut promos about how crappy ECW was/is, and how it isn't wrestling and such. Crowds chanted their asses off using quite a few expletives. JBL was still talking when RVD's music hit and JBL's mic went dead. | |||
| IN RING: A gimpy Rob Van Dam, kneebrace and all, came to the ring with Bill Alfonso (what a tool) and took credit for the whole damn pay-per-view. He took all the credit for giving Vince the idea, and made himself look good. RVD wanted to be involved more than anything, and not being able to wrestle at this event was worse than missing WrestleMania, the overseas tours, and even Booker T's wedding. Rhino came to the ring and gored him. Thanks Rhino! The lights went out, and when they came back on, Sabu was in the ring. | |||
| Match #4 | |||
| Sabu | def. | Rhino | via Pinfall (6:29) |
| Notes: Sabu did some crazy stuff in this match, and of course, the ego-maniac RVD had to involve himself somehow. He kicked a chair into Rhino's face and then placed him on top of a table. Sabu then dropped his leg (w/a chair) onto Rhino and through the table. It was enough. | |||
| BACKSTAGE: Al Snow and Head cut a promo. | |||
| IN ARENA: Eric Bischoff and the RAW Superstars (Edge, The Coach, Christian, William Regal, La Resistance, Gene Snitsky, Maven, Tyson Tomko) joined their SmackDown! brethren. Bischoff stuck it to a few fans on his way in, shoving one after getting beer on him, and telling another to "F off" after the fan got in his face. | |||
| Match #5 | |||
| "Crippler" Chris Benoit | def. | Eddie Guerrero | via Submission (10:37) |
| Notes: Decent WRESTLING match between these two. Eddie tapped to the Crossface. JBL applauded the Superstars, making sure they knew they were SmackDown!. | |||
| IN ARENA: Joel Gertner showed up in the balcony again, and asked Eric Bischoff for a job. Bisch couldn't believe it, and threw his beer on the ass. Bisch then ripped on ECW and their fans. Go Bisch. | |||
| Match #6 | |||
| Mike Awesome | def. | Masato Tanaka | via Pinfall (9:51) |
| Notes: My favorite match of the night. Styles spent half the match bitching about Mike Awesome, to the dismay of Foley. There were a few Awesome-Bombs, quite a few chairshots, and plenty of action. At the end, Tanaka was Awesome-Bombed over top rope to the outside through a table. Mike then dove over the top rope and landed on Tanaka and made the cover. It was a cool match. | |||
| IN RING: Paul Heyman came to the ring, nearly in tears, and claimed it was because he was smoking a joint with RVD. He thanked a few people, and then ripped on Bisch, Edge, and JBL. Heyman said Bisch was in the stands watching an ECW ppv, and not the other way around watching a WCW ppv. Bisch just flipped him off in a classic pose. Heyman then said he had TWO words for Edge, "Matt Freakin' Hardy." Edge and the other guys jumped on that immediately, since that is actually three words. And finally, Heyman said that JBL was champion for a year only because Triple H didn't want to work Tuesdays (the day SmackDown is taped). JBL pretended to faint and grabbed his heart while OJ fanned him. Paul said "E-C-F*%$ing-W!" and left. The best part of this is when JBL was acting as if he was writing a check, dropping it, and then watching it as it bounced up into the air. Priceless, JBL! | |||
| Match #7 | |||
| "The Dudley Boyz" (D-Von & Bubba Ray Dudley) |
def. | Tommy Dreamer & The Sandman |
via Pinfall (10:14) |
| Notes: Bubba pinned Dreamer after sending him through a flaming table. Sandman's entrance took about 10 minutes, with all the beer drinking and all. Before the match got started, the bWo made their appearance, and claimed to be taking over. Richards superkicked Sandman and the brawl was on. Kid Kash, Balls Mahoney, and Axl Rotten then showed up, and cleared out the bWo. Finally, the match could begin. Tommy Dreamer brought out a cheese grater, but it ended up being used on him. Dreamer was busted open big time. Sandman and Dreamer had the Dudleyz in simultaneous figure-four leglocks when Lance Storm and Justin Credible showed up again. During this chaos, Francine showed up and kicked Dreamer in the crotch. Then Beulah came out of nowhere and took out Francine. Beulah and Tommy hugged in the ring, and then DDT both Dudleys. The Dudleyz ended up taking out both Sandman (who really did nothing the whole match) and Dreamer, and then brought another table into the ring. Spike Dudley then made an appearance, bringing lighter fluid to the ring. The table was lit, and Dreamer was smoked. This match really didn't do it for me. It seemed as if they were just throwing as many people as possible into it. "Hey, if anyone's left back in the locker room back there, come on out!" Sandman was in the ring and was asking for a beer, when Stone Cold's music hit. | |||
| IN RING: Stone Cold came to the ring and brought all the ECW competitors into the ring. Austin then called out the WWE Superstars, who came down from their balcony seats and entered the ring. A big brawl ensued, with the ECW crew clearing the ring of the WWE talent. But just before the brawl erupted, Taz made his entrance, to the dismay of Kurt Angle. Austin ended up with JBL's crushed hat on, and had Mick Foley bring Bischoff (who had joined the ECW commentary) to the ring. Bisch received a 3D, a flying headbutt, a 619, and a Stunner. Bisch was defiant to the end, though. Then the Dudleyz carried him backstage and dumped him in a semi. Then it was a big "We love ECW" orgy in the ring as everyone drank beer and got emotional. I must comment a bit on the brawl between JBL and Blue Meanie. JBL beat up and bloodied Meanie, and it took about six ECW guys to get JBL off of him and out of the ring. Meanie's face was f'ed up. I read Meanie's statement after the fact, and in true pussy fashion, he said he took the high road and didn't fight back against the bully JBL. That's what punching bags say all the time after getting pushed around and not fighting back. Go JBL! You kick Meanie's ass! I know you wanted to attack Heyman, but he was hiding in back somewhere, so you merely punched (repeatedly) the closest disgusting fat ass you could find. | |||
